Easton and Martyr Worthy Cricket Club is this year celebrating its 80th anniversary. The David Roth cricket ground looked fantastic for the opening Men’s friendly warm up game on Saturday April 11th versus Longparish CC. The home team won convincingly by 64 runs. The club’s groundsman Lee Padwick is ably assisted by his father Clive who has been a club member for 52 years! Lee is responsible for springtime preparatory work and somehow produces pitches for many of nearly 25 teams and organisations that train and play cricket matches throughout the week during the summer.
403 teams have entered the Cawston Press Village Cup competition 2026 with the final played at Lord’s. EMWCC has drawn Amport CC away in the first round on Sunday April 26th. More friendlies are planned on Saturdays throughout April with the first League matches scheduled for Saturday May 2nd 1.00 pm start. Men’s outdoor training on Thursday evenings has been well attended by adults,U17s and U15s.
The Ladies’ softball section is recruiting more players. Training is on Tuesday evenings and matches on Sunday afternoons. No previous cricket playing experience is needed. Click here to see a flyer.
The Juniors’ section will this year be running 17 teams for girls and boys across all age groups from U9s to U17s. The days for training and matches depend on the age group. Friday social evenings start on April 24th from 6.00 pm.
