A couple of days of rain during the week heavily impacts on groundsman Lee Padwick’s opportunities to produce the pitches needed for the many different teams playing matches at the David Roth cricket ground each weekend. June has been a difficult month for groundsmen all around the country – including Lords at the Test Match!
All three men’s teams won their matches over the weekend of June 13th /14th. The Boys U15’s are through to the quarter final of their League Cup. The U13’s played the quarter final of the Hampshire County Hindley Cup against Sparsholt CC on the Sunday morning. EMWCC won by a resounding 99 runs. 34 teams had originally entered the tournament. Well done the U13 boys!

What a brilliant start for our Girls & Ladies teams!
The cricket season is well and truly underway, and there is an undeniable buzz around the Girls and Ladies section at EMWCC. From our youngest newcomers to historic team expansions, the energy, talent, and team spirit on display this year have been nothing short of inspiring.
Under 9s: The Next Generation!
Our U9 Girls’ section is absolutely thriving! We’ve welcomed a fantastic group of new starters who are dipping their toes into cricket for the very first time. They are having so much fun, picking up new skills weekly, supporting one another, and doing the club incredibly proud. The future of EMWCC girls cricket is looking very bright indeed!
Under 11 Girls: Cup Drama and Brilliant Cricket!
What a sensational start to the summer for our U11 Girls! They have been playing some truly awesome cricket and are still flying the flag high in the Tier 1 Cup.
The squad also made a thrilling run to the semi-finals of the Tier 2 Cup Festival in Alton. While they narrowly missed out on a spot in the final, the girls played with massive heart – even when facing some, shall we say, highly enthusiastic coaching from the opposition sidelines! It was a tough pill to swallow, but our girls held their heads high and proved they have the talent and sportsmanship to go all the way.
Under 13 Girls: Making Club History!
For the first time in EMWCC history, we have fielded two separate U13 Girls’ teams this season! This is a massive milestone for the club and a testament to how much the girls’ game is growing. Both squads are progressing beautifully, putting in fantastic performances, and climbing their respective league tables and cup brackets.
A Huge Thank You! None of this would be possible without the dedicated coaches, the loudest-cheering parents, and, of course, the brilliant players themselves. Making the start of this season so memorable. There are plenty more boundaries to be hit and wickets to be taken! Come on EMWCC!
Dates for Your Diary:
The annual Sixes tournament will be played on Friday July 24th. On Thursday 23rd the club will host a community evening starting at 6.00pm, including a bar and BBQ.
Also 2026 is the club’s 80th Anniversary. A celebration is planned on Saturday August 2nd in conjunction with the annual Club vs MCC match.
